René Arns

I was born in Rotterdam in 1954 and grew up in Amersfoort from the age of five. After a thirty-nine-year career as a fighter pilot in the Royal Air Force, including a deployment to Afghanistan, I left with an honorable discharge. During those years, I underwent a profound process of self-discovery that rekindled a talent for drawing I'd had in my youth. Now I work daily in pastel, acrylic, and oil, focusing on figurative art and landscapes. I'm particularly drawn to portraiture, captivated by the beauty found in the human face. I've painted portraits for private collectors and continue to accept commissions for portrait work. In December 2025, I won the Audience Award at the amateur exhibition at Huize Kernhem in Ede.
